About us

A Place Where Seniors Are Valued

Quinebaug Valley Senior Center is a non-profit Center for Active Living in Brooklyn, Connecticut. We serve adults 50+ from ten towns: Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson, and Woodstock.

Our Story

Seniors bring a wide range of life experience and wisdom that enriches everyone around them. It is a gift to honor and support them, and to give them a place to share memories of their lives and our communities. Old friendships and new ones grow here every day.

Today we have 568 members from our ten towns, 11 other Connecticut towns, and a few from out of state. Town officials and families refer seniors to us, and everyone who comes is welcomed and helped.

Our Team

Our two paid staff members and one trained volunteer are all certified Medicare CHOICES counselors. They help with Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, housing, heating and rental assistance, licenses and handicap placards, and healthcare proxies. They have also visited homes to make sure seniors have meals, medical equipment, and rides.

One staff member also serves as Brooklyn's Municipal Agent to the Elderly.
